The new trailer of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend arrived on Oct. 15, and it is built around two oaths. Ranbir Kapoor's Rama promises to hunt down Ravana in the netherworld, on earth or in the heavens. Yash's Ravana, by contrast, declares himself ruler of the three realms. The promo runs 2 minutes and 36 seconds, according to India Today.

What the trailer shows

India Today's description of the footage is the most detailed we found. Rama is seen single-handedly slaying giant demons in a forest. Ravana is shown fighting Indra and the army of the devas. There are brief glimpses of Jatayu fighting Ravana during the abduction of Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, and quiet scenes between Sita and Rama. The demoness Tadaka pursues the young prince, and Parshuram appears with his axe. The trailer ends with Ravana overpowering an army sent to subdue him.

Who is in it

Nitesh Tiwari directs. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Ravie Dubey plays Laxman, Yash plays Ravana and Sunny Deol plays Hanuman. The cast also includes Arun Govil as King Dashrath, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Shobana, Saurabh Sachdeva, Faisal Malik and Lara Dutta. The film is the first part of a two-part epic produced by Namit Malhotra under DNEG and Prime Focus Studios, and Yash is also a co-producer, India Today reports.

The release date

India Today says the film opens in India on Nov. 5, 2026, with international markets following on Nov. 6. The tracker Sacnilk's listing also carries Nov. 5 for the worldwide release. An earlier report in the Times of India and the Indian Express quoted producer Namit Malhotra as saying the film would debut internationally on Nov. 6 and in India two days later, on Nov. 8. We have not found a fresh official statement that settles it, so we are flagging both dates.

Why the date matters

No other major Hindi release is listed in the weeks around it, according to Diwali release roundups, so Ramayana will have the theatres largely to itself. Mid-day reports that the film will also carry a promotional push for another big title. Citing a Moneycontrol report, it says a 45-second teaser of Shah Rukh Khan's King has been certified by the CBFC and is expected to play alongside Ramayana in theatres. The makers have not officially confirmed that plan.

Mid-day's top-stories list also mentions that Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, is reportedly moving to Diwali 2027, which could mean a clash with Ramayana: Part 2. That part is based on a report, and neither film has confirmed it in the coverage we reviewed.

The wider weekend

The trailer landed during a quiet week for new Hindi films. Film Information said the two new Hindi releases, Prahaar and Nayyi Navelli, opened to dull houses, while Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 carried the box office. That leaves a clear runway for a film of this scale. Sunny Deol, who plays Hanuman here, had Border 2 earlier this year; Koimoi reports it grossed about Rs 483.25 crore worldwide.

What we could not confirm

We could not confirm the India release date, for the reason above. We could not confirm the King teaser attachment, which rests on a report that the makers have not acknowledged. We also could not verify the Spirit schedule change beyond mid-day's summary. The trailer description relies on India Today's account, and we have not described scenes beyond what it reports.
