Madhuri Dixit sat in the hot seat of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 in a special episode that aired on Oct. 9, trading jokes with host Amitabh Bachchan and performing a number from Devdas without leaving her chair. The Indian Express, NDTV and DNA India reported the highlights from the promos.

The episode

According to the Indian Express, Sony TV released two promos ahead of the Oct. 9 broadcast. In the first, Bachchan apologised to Madhuri for recreating the steps of her song Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab. He says on screen, in the paper's translation, that he once made "the mistake of copying a step from your film." Madhuri teased that the clip should be shown to everyone, and a scene from his 1989 film Toofan was played, with the audience and Bachchan both laughing.

In the second promo, she appears as Chandramukhi from Devdas. As the song Kaahe Chhed Mohe begins, she performs from the hot seat. Bachchan responds, "Kya baat hai. Incredible, incredible, Madhuri ji." NDTV and DNA India both describe the moment, with DNA saying she recreated the Paro look and moves.

Madhuri is about to host the Marathi version of the show, Kon Honar Crorepati, and the Indian Express notes this is her first outing as a game show host. In a statement quoted by the paper she said, "There is a certain warmth in meeting Amitabh Sir on the KBC stage that is difficult to put into words." She added that coming back as host of the Marathi show "makes the moment even more special."

Business Upturn reports separately that the Marathi show's grand premiere on Oct. 12 had Madhuri as host, with Sonali Bendre taking the first hot seat.

Why the episode caught attention

The pairing of Bachchan and Madhuri has history, and the show used it as a draw. The moment also arrives as Sony expands the franchise with a tournament edition, KBC Champions vs Champions, which Business Upturn reports will begin on Oct. 19.

None of this involves any claim about private matters. The reporting is about promos and public performances on a television show.

How to watch

The Indian Express says the special episode aired at 9 p.m. on Sony Entertainment Television and streamed on Sony LIV, the show's usual slot. Sony's promo caption, as the paper reproduces it, calls it "Madhuri's style, special for everyone" and points viewers to the weeknight 9 p.m. broadcast.

The second promo shows the dance performed while she stays seated. Neither promo shows any contestant question or answer, so there is no way to tell from the clips alone how the quiz portion of the episode went.

What we could not confirm

We have not watched the full episode, so we cannot say what else was discussed or whether the promo moments appear in the same order in the broadcast. We could not confirm the viewership of the episode, as no figures appear in the coverage. We relied on the Indian Express for quotes and used NDTV and DNA India only as corroborating descriptions of the dance moment. The Business Upturn detail about Kon Honar Crorepati's premiere comes from a link listing on its page and we have kept it brief.
