Udta Teer Lands Oct. 23 With Ayushmann Khurrana
Udta Teer, with Ayushmann Khurrana, is set for release on Oct. 23. The cast, the trailer and release details, plus what the makers have not yet said.

Ayushmann Khurrana's spy comedy Udta Teer is due in cinemas on Oct. 23 after two delays. The film, directed by Akash A Kaushik, also stars Sara Ali Khan. The release moved from Oct. 9 to avoid the crush of Drishyam 3, according to a Hindustan Times report of the makers' note.
The date change
The Hindustan Times reported on Oct. 2 that the film, first set for Sept. 11, had been pushed to Oct. 9 and then to Oct. 23. A press note from the team said the film was "tracking well" and that the makers chose "a cleaner release window and a stronger theatrical runway instead of compromising on screens in a suddenly crowded marketplace." The shift came as Drishyam 3 posted a Rs 60 crore-plus opening day, the paper noted.
The premise
Ayushmann told ANI he plays a Pakistani spy who loses his memory. In his words, "while he retains a sense of patriotism, he forgets which country he belongs to, so he ends up supporting India." He called it "a pro-India patriotic comedy" and a genre-defying film for the whole family. He also said, "I am returning to my core, which champions original content, and this film embodies that."
Cast and producers
The Hindustan Times lists Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe in the ensemble. Udta Teer marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik. It is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, and is a Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment collaboration.
The film's ask
The makers' note leans on trailer buzz and tracking, but gives no numbers for either. Ayushmann's own framing is that the film marks a return to the unusual, original stories that built his career, a claim that is his own and that reviews will test after release.
What else is in cinemas
The weekend of Oct. 16 to 18 was crowded. According to the Sacnilk weekend table, the new Hindi releases Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar opened to modest numbers, while Drishyam: The Conclusion held on in its third week with a cumulative net of Rs 341.10 crore. Jailer 2 led the chart. A film opening on Oct. 23 enters a market where Drishyam 3, then in its fourth week, still holds screens.
Ramayana, due on Nov. 5 according to The Indian Express, will take a large share of screens soon after, which is part of why release windows are being managed so carefully.
Why the date matters
Moving a release is a common tactic. A "cleaner window" argument helps with screens, but it also means the film now sits closer to the Diwali period and to Ramayana. Whether the tactic pays off will be visible only in the first weekend figures after Oct. 23.
What we could not confirm
We could not confirm the film's trailer reception, advance bookings or screen count for Oct. 23, because none of the sources we found report them. The statements about the film's tone are the makers' and the actor's own. Sara Ali Khan was not quoted in the report we read.
